5th Generation Family-Owned Business
The farm was established in 1927 by Norwegian immigrants Ole and Anna Johnson, who bought a 27-acre farm in Clear Lake, Washington with their daughter Bertha.
In 1930, Carl Torgeson, another Norwegian immigrant, purchased a neighboring 19-acre farm on Francis Road. He married Bertha Johnson, and together they raised two children, Ruth and Tom, on the farm. In 1998, Tom inherited the Francis Road farm and later acquired the Johnson farm in 2001.
Originally a dairy farm, Torgeson Farms transitioned to a hay farm under Tom's management, and his son, Todd introduced beef cattle in 1991. He assumed ownership of the farm in 2015. Todd and his wife Paula, along with their three children, Terrel, Taylor, and Emma, expanded Torgeson Farms by purchasing an additional 20 acres east of Sedro-Woolley.
Over the years, the farm evolved into a comprehensive operation, producing and selling quality livestock feed, as well as engaging in cow/calf and stocker operations. In 2016, Torgeson Farms launched its own label of quality grass-fed beef.
